April 21, 2008 - by Jahn Cruk
Mother Nature threatened to wash out the entire weekend, but she held up and only prevented one game from being played. There were a few teams that opened up a can of whoop @1? on there opponents and there were a few pitchers duels this past weekend. I have to say that I am upset that the Scorpions Matt Mitchell missed his opportunity at his 15th straight victory and it looks like he will have to beat the Marlins again to get it.

The best game from the looks of things had to be the Redhawks defeating the Longhorns 3-0 this past weekend, this must have been an exciting game to watch. I also can't ignore the fact that the Ravens lost to the Bullfrogs this weekend as well. This upcoming weekend will feature my two picks for the MSL National Championship Game to play each other in a would be preview to the 2008 post season finally. Lets all hope the weather cooperates with each and every team in the National League.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: BULLFROGS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: UNKNOWN

WEEK 3 RANKINGS:

1. LOOKOUTS (1) 2-0
The Lookouts are showing why they are the defending champs once again as they man handle a struggling Yankees team. This week the Lookouts will take on the Snappers in what could be a test for Gargano and his Lookouts. I am gonna guess that the strong will survive. My prediction: Lookouts win a good game...

2. DIABLOS (3) 1-1
Well, the bats came alive this past weekend for the Diablos as they showed why they just might have one of the best line-ups in the league. The question remains, what happened to this offense last week when they played the Bronx Bombers? Only time will tell, but I really like this teams chances. This weekend, the Diablos take on the Ravens in what can be a preview to the 2008 National Championship. Once again, only time will tell. My prediction: Diablos win a close game...

3. RIVER BANDITS (4) 1-1
This past weekend, the River Bandits gave the Bombers a true greeting into the league. A 20-0 thrashing and this was with wood bats everyone. I guess the bats of the River Bandits has come alive as well. This weekend the Bandits take on the Longhorns in what will be a very good game to attend. My prediction: River Bandits win a good game...

4. RAVENS (2) 1-1
The Ravens lost a tough game to the Bullfrogs this past weekend and will need to get it together cause the heavy hitting Diablos await them this weekend. This game will feature very good pitching and timely hitting and the team that makes the fewest mistakes will pull it out. My prediction: Diablos win a very tight game...

5. REDHAWKS (6) 2-0
Slowly but surely this team is starting to catch my eye. This is a team which may be flying under the radar so pay close attention everyone. The Redhawks shut out the Longhorns this past weekend and possibly put their stamp on a possible division title. Lets all remember that they started hot last year before the bubble bursted, so I am gonna move them up slowly as they deserve. Keep playing the good ball though! This weekend the Redhawks take on the Yankees. My prediction: Redhawks trounce the Yankees...

6. ATHLETICS (5) 1-1
I dropped them one spot because I felt that the Redhawks victory was more impressive than the A's, but that is not a negative, so don't take offense to the lower rank. They played the Snappers tough and eventually pulled out the victory. This weekend they take on the Bronx Bombers. My prediction: A's win big time...

7. SCORPIONS (7) 1-0
Unfortunately Mother Nature got the best of the Scorpions and the Bombers last weekend as this was the only National game that was not played. Matt "let me pat myself on the back" Mitchell will have to wait another week to win his 15th consecutive game. An extraordinary feat, but not necessary to let me know this yourself. Next time, let your teammates do your talking. Back to business, this week the Scorpions will take on the Marlins. My prediction: Marlins snap the streak and win...

8. BULLFROGS (9) 1-1
Last weekend the Bullfrogs took on the Ravens and low and behold come away with victory. This is the team that I expect to see week in and week out. They are good, so pay close attention to them everyone. This week they take on the Wrigley Sluggers. My prediction: Bullfrogs win big...

9. LONGHORNS (10) 1-1
I moved up the Horns because they must have played a great game and hung in there with the Redhawks last week. Their offense was shut down, but I don't see that happening two weeks in a row. This week they take on the River Bandits. My prediction: River Bandits win a tight game...

10. SNAPPERS (11) 1-1
My little Turtles lost this past weekend to the Athletics in what also looked like a very good game. They are scoring runs in a high amount, so pitchers be aware of this scoring machine. This week they take on the Lookouts. My prediction: Lookouts will win a good game...

11. MARLINS (8) 0-2
Not sure what the problem is, but this is a much better team than their record indicates. They will be looking to rebound after their pounding from the Diablos last weekend. This week they take on the Scorpions and Matt Mitchell's 14 game consecutive winning streak. My prediction: Marlins win a close one...

12. BRONX BOMBERS (12) 1-1
Well, I believe reality might have set in after this game. The Bombers just got pounded this past weekend by the River Bandits. I only can say this, it is only going to get worse from here. This week they take on the A's and Dr. Ike. My prediction: A's win big time...

13. YANKEES (13) 0-2
Once again, the Yankees got it handed to them. I have a feeling that I am going to say that same line more times than not with this team. This week they take on the Redhawks. My prediction: Redhawks win big time...

14. WRIGLEY SLUGGERS (14) 0-1
Mother Nature saved them from another thrashing and it looks like she might come though for them again this weekend. This week they take on the Bullfrogs. My prediction: Bullfrogs win big...

GAME OF THE WEEK

#2 DIABLOS -VS- #4 RAVENS

Please send me some info on all the games, I was not able to pick a player of the week cause no one sent me any individual stats. Good luck to all this weekend and lets all hope that Mother Nature backs off.
